What You'll Be Doing (and Learning!) During your apprenticeship, you'll be following the ST0318 Rail Engineering Technician, Traction and Rolling Stock Pathway. This comprehensive programme combines academic learning with practical experience:

Day Release at College:
You'll attend college on a day‑release basis to gain your formal qualification.

Hands‑On in the Depot:
You'll work as an integral part of our team, getting up close with the CL700 trains. This includes:

  • Performing routine maintenance and inspections.
  • Diagnosing and rectifying complex faults.
  • Working safely and efficiently within a dynamic rail depot environment.
  • Collaborating with experts to ensure operational excellence.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Academic Foundation:
    You will have achieved, or be on track to achieve, at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including Maths and English Language
  • Inquisitive Mind:
    Logical thinking, a willingness to self‑learn and research, and a creative approach to problem‑solving.
  • Proactive & Responsible:
    Ability to work independently, safely, and responsibly. You're keen to take ownership of challenges and ideas, and you're looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change.

    You enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions.

A Fresh Start:
This apprenticeship is designed for new talent. Therefore, you must NOT have completed the following:

  • A Level 2 PEO (Performing Engineering Operations)
  • A Level 3 Engineering Diploma (BTEC)
  • A Level 3 AME…
