Machine Borer

Our client, a leading aerospace company, is currently seeking a Machine Borer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role involves operating and maintaining boring machines to produce precision aircraft components within specified limits. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience with machining processes, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Operate all types of boring machines to fine limits.
• Work on own initiative.
• Read and understand technical drawings.
• Take responsibility for work and others.
• Understand types of horizontal boring practices.
• Measure in imperial units.
• Work in accordance with company procedures and regulations.
• Maintain Practical Experience Record (PER) book.
• Train personnel within specified areas, subject to qualifications and experience.

• Machining background essential.
• Experience with horizontal boring machines desirable.
• Understanding of IT and machine shop technology.
• Strong initiative and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Good communication skills in written and spoken English.
• Capability to perform under pressure.
• Aerospace background preferable but not essential.

• Flexible working hours including overtime at weekends.
• Exposure to greases and oils.
• Training and use of overhead cranes.
• Understanding of manual handling.
• Use of hand tools, power tools, ovens, and complex machinery.
• Maintain a clean and tidy working area to a 5S standard.
• Must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted.
• Mandatory training required.
• Position and processes involve lifting heavy aircraft components.
