COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Our client is a stainless steel manufacturer based in Centurion and they are looking for a Junior Mill Operator to join their team as soon as possible.

JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

This is an entry-level position, responsible for assisting with operating and maintaining milling machinery, performing basic tasks, and learning the processes under the guidance of senior operators. Key duties include monitoring equipment, ensuring quality control, and learning to troubleshoot issues to ensure efficient production of finished goods from raw materials.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Machine operation: Operating and tending to milling machinery (e.g. Tube Mill) to process raw materials.
• Monitoring: Closely monitoring equipment performance and production output to ensure efficiency and quality.
• Quality control: Performing checks to ensure that the products meet the required quality standards.
• Maintenance: Assisting with routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery to keep it in good working order.
• Learning: Working under the supervision of senior operators to learn more complex tasks, systems, and troubleshooting techniques.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Matric or equivalent with Standard/Higher grade Mathematics (Technical Schooling will be beneficial)
• Relevant Technical qualification

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Must have some sort of technical background or come from a Technical College / High School
• Some experience in a manufacturing environment operating similar equipment (Tube Mill) will be an added advantage
• Computer literate
• Strong in Mathematics
• Able to read and write in English
• Must be a good team player
• Must be able to do accurate measurements with any measuring equipment
• Must have good interpersonal skills
• Good communication skills
• Must be assertive
• Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Ability and desire to learn and progress
• Strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation
