The University of Virginia Department of Computer Science seeks a postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct research in systems for machine learning, including large language models (LLMs), and secure and privacy-preserving machine learning. The researcher will investigate techniques to improve efficiency, security, and reliability of systems, collaborate with graduate students, design experiments, and prepare manuscripts for publication. This is a one-year appointment under the supervision of Professor Haiying Shen, with the possibility of renewal.
- Ph.D. in computer science or closely related field required by start date
- Strong background in ML/LLM or related areas required
- Experience with machine learning applications, particularly LLMs or machine learning systems, preferred
- Ability to conduct research studies and collaborate with graduate students
- Skills in research publication and manuscript preparation
