Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment to bale and load waste or other materials into trailers.
- Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on equipment.
- Grease/lubricate equipment and check/add fluids daily.
- Safely steer, guide, and operate equipment using controls such as steering wheels, levers, pedals, and buttons.
- Substitute for other operators as needed to maintain workflow.
- Clean debris from equipment tracks and gear mechanisms at least once daily or as required.
- Communicate with co-workers and supervisors using a two-way radio regarding daily tasks and priorities.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of facility grounds.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable federal, state/provincial, and local regulations.
- Attend safety meetings and branch meetings.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
- Forklift certification required.
- Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.
- Proficient English reading, speaking, writing, and comprehension.
- Basic math skills and ability to read and understand equipment gauges.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to safety and detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and solve routine operational problems.
- Physically capable of frequently lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands and fingers.
- Visual abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments.
- Outdoor work environment 100% of the time.
- Exposure to loud noise, weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
- Work performed in heavy equipment cabs but exposed to weather (except during lightning storms).
- Occasional work at heights or in precarious locations.
