About the role: Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical Author in the UK BAT team you can. You will play a key role in drafting Best Available Techniques (BAT) conclusions for Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (LVIC) installations, liaising with Technical Working Groups and producing a final document that becomes a new UK-wide environmental standard for industry.
Keyresponsibilities
- Draught BAT conclusions and related technical documents.
- Liaise with Technical Working Groups to gather evidence and data.
- Present a final, UK-wide standard suitable for publication.
- Analyze technical arguments and data critically.
- Write clear, concise technical documents.
- Manage projects to meet delivery targets.
- Support incident management objectives and develop incident roles.
- Travel and overnight stays may be required, but we use smart tools to minimise travel.
- At least 5 years of experience in the LVIC industry and a solid understanding of UK and EU environmental legislation (including IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations).
- Specialist knowledge and understanding of the LVIC industry.
- Good understanding of process engineering and environmental issues.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and policy in the UK.
- Capability to analyse technical arguments and data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Strong project‑management skills and drive to complete.
- Flexibility to work with diverse teams across backgrounds and cultures.
