Apprenticeship Programme

Joining Ontic as an Apprentice offers the opportunity to gain real, hands‑on experience while working toward a nationally recognised qualification in Engineering. Over the course of the programme, you’ll build a solid foundation in both Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, developing the technical and practical skills needed for a successful career in the aerospace industry.

Your journey will begin at Gloucestershire Engineering Training (GET), where you’ll spend your first year completing academic and practical training. From the second year onward, you’ll join Ontic full‑time, rotating across departments and gaining valuable exposure to maintenance, assembly, testing and repair of aircraft components.

Throughout the programme, you’ll be supported by experienced engineers, mentors and development professionals who will guide you every step of the way. You’ll have access to dedicated coaching, structured workshops and a mentor network to help you grow technically and personally. From day one, you’ll be encouraged, supported and empowered to take ownership of your learning.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Observing, learning and applying a wide range of engineering skills and processes.
  • Assisting in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft components.
  • Supporting operational teams with inspection, testing and assembly work.
  • Learning how to use precision tools, technical drawings and measuring equipment.
  • Undertaking academic and practical training leading to a Level 3 or Level 4 Engineering qualification.
  • Following all Health & Safety procedures and maintaining a safe workspace.
  • Keeping detailed records of training and progress throughout the programme.
