Job Description SummaryThe Equipment Electrician is responsible for diagnosis and repair of electrical controls, compliance with regulatory requirements, fault finding, and developing a controls strategy across the building management system. The role requires work in sensitive areas maintaining GE standards and producing high-quality work. This position is based on a day shift (37 hours per week) and may require work outside standard hours to meet business needs.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Work to ensure electrical safety.
- Execute the design analysis or evaluation of assigned electrical projects using sound electrical principles whilst adhering to national recognised standards and regulations and following GE 2003 Electrical Safety policy.
- Oversee and support the design and build of electrical control panels, documenting all drawings and technical data consistent with current National Electrical Standards.
- Ensure best practices are met across all buildings.
- Proactively upgrade equipment and plan for downtime across sites.
- Maintain regulatory compliance.
- Install, fault-find and repair electrical infrastructure and equipment.
- Work within the maintenance & facilities team to manage sitewide systems and procedures including fire alarm testing and emergency response.
- Communicate proactively with customers and stakeholders via meetings and Maximo.
- Electrical installation apprenticeship or equivalent.
- BS7671 18TH Edition Wiring Regulations knowledge.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an industrial environment.
- Fully conversant with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and team working skills.
- Basic knowledge of PLC systems within an industrial environment.
- Experience with Machinery Safety Legislation including PUWER.
- Confined space trained.
- HV Substation Awareness training.
- IPAF certification.
- Strong computer skills.
- Electrical Authorised Person trained.
- Optical Fibre/Data testing and installation.
- Working knowledge of Maximo CMMS.
- 2391 Electrical Test and Inspection.
- First Aid.
- BMS experience.
- Desire for personal continuous improvement.
