Clinical Nurse Educator - Urology, Band 6

Clinical Nurse Educator, Band 6 – Tivoli (Secondment – 11 month position)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team on Tivoli. Tivoli ward provides pre and post operative care for planned elective and acute surgeries in for Urology, lower Gastro intestinal and Gynaecological surgery. Joining our team will give you exposure not only to the elective surgeries but also emergency admissions and acutely unwell patients. We are a fast‑paced ward with high turnover of patients.

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive, compassionate nurse that shares our passion and drive in the delivery of high‑quality safe care for our patients.

You will work alongside the ward manager to support the clinical and operational management of the ward, monitor and maintain excellent clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development.

Main duties of the job
  • Working alongside the Ward Manager, develop and maintain a local Training Needs Analysis, coordinate the links with appraisals and National Guidance, ensuring that CPD activity meets individual needs, service provision and within budgetary limits.
  • Support the Ward Manager in monitoring the standards and quality of care, promoting the use of audit and working with them to identify and remedy any actions.
  • To identify suitable teaching opportunities/requirements and to undertake practical teaching and supervision of learners to ensure key learning outcomes are met.
  • Support the team to enhance patient experience and patient outcomes.
  • To ensure that the caring culture expected of colleagues and values of the Trust is consistently maintained and upheld and maintain kindness and respect to all.
  • Supporting the development of the Urology Investigation Unit (UIU).
  • Work alongside nursing staff, role‑modeling high standards of practice whilst assessing, delivering and evaluating patient care. Highlighting any areas of development for team members as required.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, protocols and guidelines, including those which will impact outside area of practice.
  • Be competent in the use of all relevant Trust IT systems including the use of electronic patient record, email, and Trak‑Care.

  • Assist the Senior Sister with the development of staff through assisting the on‑going development supervision and monitoring of nurses, ensuring their role provision meets service needs.
  • Participate in audits, and undertake local research relevant to area of practice.
  • Work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Use leadership skills to supervise and manage others and contribute to planning, designing, delivering and improving future services.
  • Report near misses and untoward incidents, complaints, clinical emergencies, injury or medicine administration errors as detailed in the departmental and Trust protocols.
