We are looking for a professional and reliable Security Officer to join our team at a prestigious corporate site in Cheltenham. This is a front‑of‑house security and reception role, where you will play a key part in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment during overnight hours.
As the first point of contact for staff and visitors, you will ensure the security and integrity of the premises through active monitoring and regular patrols.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular internal and external patrols to maintain site safety and security.
- Monitor CCTV systems and report any suspicious activity or incidents promptly.
- Operate and manage access control systems, ensuring only authorised personnel enter.
- Maintain accurate logs, incident reports, and handover notes.
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, and security breaches in line with site procedures.
- Support and uphold the client’s security and safety policies at all times.
- Valid SIA licence (Security Guarding or Door Supervisor).
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain alert and proactive during overnight shifts.
- Experience in corporate security, reception security, or control room duties (desirable).
- Competent in using CCTV, access control, and basic IT systems.
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently.
- Provide security services at the working location in line with Assignment Instructions and customer requirements.
- Protect customers’ employees, property, and assets.
- Deliver high levels of customer service demonstrating Securitas’ core values:
Integrity, Vigilance, Helpfulness. - Must have a full SIA Licence before starting operational shifts.
- Protection of Property and Premises
- Prevent and deter unauthorized access.
- Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms, and CCTV.
- Conduct external and internal patrols as per Assignment Instructions.
- Provide traffic control and apply parking restrictions.
- Carry out routine security equipment tests.
- Manage keys and perform locking/unlocking duties.
- Ensure equipment is managed per procedures.
- Maintain logs and records.
- Issue visitor/contractor passes.
- Deal with lost property.
- Health and Safety
- Provide support, guidance, and information to staff, visitors, and contractors.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
- Record and report faults, hazards, and unsafe practices.
- Respond to accidents and emergencies.
- Ensure emergency escape routes are clear.
- Report First Aid equipment usage and shortages.
- Notify the Security Operations Centre of emergencies.
- Investigate fire alarm activations.
- Prevent Loss and Waste
- Report property at risk of theft, damage, or vandalism.
- Switch off unnecessary lights and close windows during patrols.
- Prevent and Deter Crime
- Operate radios, pagers, clocking equipment, and other security devices.
- Implement customer’s “stop and search” policies when required.
- Conduct initial investigations and report incidents (verbally and in writing) involving suspicious activities, objects, and vehicles.
- Customer Service
- Deliver outstanding customer service.
- Take responsibility for resolving staff and visitor issues.
- Maintain high standards of personal presentation and uniform.
- Answer telephone calls professionally as per Assignment Instructions.
- Other Responsibilities
- Book on at the start of each shift and make check calls per company policy.
- Complete paperwork promptly and follow cost‑effective procedures.
- Undertake additional duties as requested by Branch Management.
