Emergency Department Tech - PRN

Overview

Emergency Department Tech - PRN (As Needed) at MUSC Health. This is a PRN, as-needed position. Availability of at least 12 hours bi-weekly is required; hours may vary based on departmental demands.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Emergency Room Technician (ER Tech) works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The CAN/ER Tech performs multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the patient. Assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients.

Assists patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking. Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures. May serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment. May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.

• Assist nursing team with patient care activities and related services for comfort, safety, and personal needs.
• Support patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking, and mobility; assist with bed linens and transportation to tests/procedures.
• Provide between-meal nourishment and help with feeding as directed.
• Record temperature or vital signs under supervision.

• Minimum Education: A high school diploma or GED required. At least one year of patient care experience in a health care facility or as CNA is required.
• Required Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations: Currently registered as a Certified Nurse Assistant in South Carolina, or have an Emergency Medical Tech Certification for South Carolina, and Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association (AHA) required before seeing patients.

This is a PRN as-needed position; you must be available to work at least 12 hours bi-weekly, as needed according to departmental demands. You may be required to work additional hours at the supervisor’s request. Work hours may vary depending on unit needs.
