Under general direction of the Professional Practice Chief, Physiotherapy, the Physiotherapist assesses, plans, implements, and monitors physiotherapy treatment to patients/residents. Delegates components of treatment to Assistants/Aides. As part of the interdisciplinary team, acts as a resource on issues relating to areas of physiotherapy expertise. Participates in development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical physiotherapy practice, including philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, continuous quality improvement and risk management of the physiotherapy services.
ResponsibilitiesEducation and Experience
Graduate of a recognized program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university. Current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC and eligible for membership in the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC).
Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to designated clinical area.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and treat diversity of conditions commonly seen in the relevant area of practice.
- Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team member.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients both one-on-one and in groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional is required.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Skill in the use of equipment, and in the techniques appropriate physical therapy treatment.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC standards for practice of physical therapy.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with conflict situations.
