Detailed OverviewPerforms practical nursing duties such as assessing, plans, implementing, evaluating and documenting care for patients undergoing oscopy, minor surgical procedures, wound care and other outpatient procedures; assists with the admission of patients to procedure/consultation rooms and performs intra-procedure/consultation for patients undergoing oscopy, in accordance with established standards and protocols.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
ResponsibilitiesEducation and Experience
Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
One (1) year recent relevant clinical experience in minor surgical procedures or other outpatient procedures and completion of relevant coursework and/or certification, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current basic cardiac life support certification.
Skills and Abilities- Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families/caregivers, the public, medical staff and members of the interprofessional care team verbally and in writing.
- Ability to promote person-centered care that demonstrates empathy for patients and families/caregivers.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
