The Security Guard contributes to the overall success of the hotel by providing exceptional customer service and specialized security services during the evening/night shift, while maintaining a safe environment for guests, ambassadors, and the property.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and straightforward duties, including patrolling the property, parkade, guest floors, back offices, and banquet rooms.
• Handle moderately complex situations requiring problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Ensure the safety and security of the property, ambassadors, and guests while performing all tasks.
• Secure designated areas of the hotel and complete nightly security checklists.
• Stay informed about local events, security concerns (e.g., thefts), or other situations that may impact guest services, and communicate appropriately.
• Provide guidance and support during emergencies, contacting external authorities when necessary.
• Respond to noise complaints, potential trespassing, and other security‑related incidents.
• Assist guests with requests for additional amenities, including room service requests, while maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor.
• Act as an ambassador for Coast Hotels by greeting guests and handling basic inquiries.
• Follow established procedures, policies, and company practices while completing tasks.
• Prioritize tasks effectively, operating within established authority boundaries.
• Maintain health and safety standards in compliance with all applicable BC regulations.
• Report incidents promptly to designated managers.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications / Skills /

Experience:

• Secondary school diploma or Hospitality experience.
• Security training recognized in British Columbia (BST
  - Basic Security Training License required).
• 12 months of related experience preferred.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including overnight shifts.
• Demonstrated alignment with Coast Hotels’ Core Values.
• Experience with conflict resolution preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask, take initiative, and work independently.
• Bondable and professional in attitude and appearance.
• Clear understanding of relevant hotel operating policies and procedures.
• WHMIS training and knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Occupational First Aid
  - Level 1 Required
