Senior Planning Enforcement Officer – SAFE Consulting Group – Cirencester, England – Salary: £39,883 – £43,040 per annum, 37 hours per week – Permanent contract – Agile working – 40+ members development management team.

Overview

As part of our 40‑plus strong Development Management team, you’ll play a key role in protecting the district’s exceptional natural and built environment. Working in the beautiful market town of Cirencester, you’ll help safeguard the Cotswolds’ character and make a visible, lasting impact.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload of planning enforcement cases.
  • Investigate complex breaches of planning control.
  • Lead on formal enforcement action, including appeals and prosecutions.
  • Provide expert advice to colleagues, members, businesses and the public.
  • Support and mentor other Planning Enforcement Officers within a collaborative service.
  • Operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment demanding professional judgment and resilience.
Qualifications
  • A planning or related degree.
  • Eligibility for full Membership of the RTPI.
  • Substantial relevant professional experience (min. 5 years) or 3 years for a step‑up role.
  • Chartered Town Planner Qualification, Level 7 (5 years) or equivalent.
  • Experience working flexibly with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience in continuously improving services and developing products to meet customer needs.
Special Conditions
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for work purposes.
