Role OverviewThe Machine Shop Inspector will carry out inspection activities on machined products to ensure conformity to drawing/customer requirements in conjunction with TT Electronics Fairford's Quality Management System.
Key Responsibilities- Carrying out first‑off inspection of individual pieces to drawing requirements and final quality inspection.
- Carrying out final assembly inspection of backshells and adaptor assemblies for direct supply to the customer.
- Carrying out documentation checks on all completed jobs.
- Carrying out in‑process inspection (e.g. part mark and thread checks) prior to part assembly.
- Carrying out Goods Receiving verification of supplied machined parts & raw materials.
- Carrying out First Article Inspection and completing First Article Inspection Report (FAIR).
- Recording inspection results on the relevant statistical spreadsheets.
- Maintaining test & verification tooling used for mechanical inspection in conjunction with the Tool‑Store Supervisor.
- Monitoring machined scrap and bar stocktake.
- Booking raw material to relevant job cards, inventory transfer of material relocation.
- Any other task as directed by the Head of Machine Shop.
- Background in an electro/mechanical manufacturing environment with experience of Defence/Military & Civil Aerospace products.
- Ability to read and understand a variety of technical data including General Assembly drawings, machining drawings, technical specifications and procedures.
- Experience in the use of a variety of measuring devices essential (including Vernier callipers, micrometers, height gauges, internal and external thread gauges, wire gauges, shadow graph).
- General IT skills, with knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Visio etc).
- Attention to detail in all areas of inspection and test.
- Can work with minimum supervision.
