Senior System Engineer Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross‑functional engineering discipline, centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities consider the business and technical needs of customers to provide a quality solution that meets user needs. The discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, including identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed.

• Support the System Engineering Manager with system engineering on allocated projects.
• Develop system deliverables including BoD, PFD, P&, philosophies, etc.
• Prepare material for system design review process.
• Ensure all activities that span multiple components and products are managed effectively, considering integration for maximum performance and operability.
• Support management of system requirements, specifications and flow down to subsystems/products/components.
• Support validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system‑level testing.
• Support technical interface management.
• Identify opportunities for variation orders from technical aspects and drive to approval with PEM.
• Support CTQ/Risk trades across teams designing products.
• Maintain comprehensive understanding of complex and highly technical concepts and principles in your sphere of expertise.
• Communicate across the organization and present to senior leaders (EB and SEB) on how technologies interconnect and contribute to the overall solution.
• Travel, as required, to supervise testing activities.
• Manage specific scopes (including issue resolution) as allocated by the System Engineering Manager.
• Deputise for the System Engineering Manager as required.
• Lead technical aspects of commercial pursuits when assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Engineering/Technology). Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Customer Project Engineering.
