Estimator; Main Contractor

Estimator (Main Contractor) | Permanent | Colchester, Essex

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + package

I have an excellent opportunity for an Estimator to join a dynamic, growing Main Contractor on a permanent basis, based out of their offices in Colchester, Essex.

The company have been operating for close to 20 years’ and turnover in excess of £30m. They carry out a range of new build and refurbishment projects across multiple sectors including commercial, residential, automotive, healthcare, education, sports and leisure and retail, up to £12m in value.

The business is expanding and with a large number of projects ongoing and in the pipeline, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team by bringing in an experienced Estimator to support the Senior Estimator.

Role and responsibilities to include:

• Review incoming tenders and report to the Senior Estimator
• Produce tender returns in accordance with schedule produced
• List out tender requirements outside of cost / value items and agree responsibility with Construction Director – e.g. Programmes, presentation documents etc.
• Chase tender responses and feedback regardless of outcome
• Attend to post tender queries, clarifications and value engineering options
• Assess and schedule cost saving / value engineering solutions on ongoing basis throughout tender in order that this information is available for use post submission
• Attend tender interview meetings as agreed with Commercial Director
• Attend internal pre-contract meetings to handover project to appointed management team
• Measurement from drawings manually and electronically

Experience:

• Ideally Degree qualified or other relevant qualification
• Track record working for a reputable Main Contractor
• Experience working on a range of projects across multiple sectors up to £12m
• Able to take off from drawings
• Able to commute to Colchester on a daily basis
