Position: Senior Electronic Hardware Design Engineer (Permanent)
Senior Electronic Hardware Design Engineer - Colchester - Up to £70,000
A leading electronics engineering company is seeking a Senior Electronic Hardware Design Engineer to join their team. This is a great opportunity to lead complex development projects, designing and testing innovative digital and analogue systems for real-world applications.
What You'll Do:

* Define product specifications in collaboration with Product Management

* Lead the design of digital and analogue electronic hardware using Altium Designer

* Perform component selection, simulation, prototyping, and validation

* Debug and verify hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and other lab equipment

* Work closely with software and mechanical teams to ensure seamless system integration

* Manage the full hardware development lifecycle from concept through to production release

* Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance

* Ensure compliance with relevant safety, EMC, and industry standards
What You'll Need:

* Degree in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)

* Proven experience as a Hardware Design Engineer, ideally at a senior level

* Expertise in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout

* Strong understanding of mixed-signal design, high-speed digital circuits, and power management

* Confident using lab tools for debug, validation, and fault-finding

* Experience working in cross-functional product development teams

* Knowledge of RF principles is beneficial but not the core focus

* Familiarity with FPGA or microcontroller-based systems is advantageous
