Groundwater Modelling Advisor – 32524

Responsibilities
  • Advance the groundwater investigation and modelling programme, employing consultant or in‑house resources to undertake field investigations, refine and update groundwater models, and test scenarios to support water resources and quality decision‑making.
  • Manage projects within the team programme from initiation to delivery of project outputs.
  • Serve as the technical lead for groundwater investigations and modelling, keeping up to date with both internal and external work across the Environment Agency and partner Water Companies.
  • Coordinate the issuance of intellectual property licences for external parties wishing to use Environment Agency data, information and models.
  • Actively contribute to the wider groundwater modelling community.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Water‑resources specialist with experience developing or working with groundwater models and capable of providing technical leadership.
  • Track record of delivering high‑value projects, including securing budgets and approvals, procuring and managing consultants or in‑house resources.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills for complex activities.
  • Proficient in interpreting groundwater model results and incorporating them into decision‑making.
  • Effective communication skills, managing expectations and conveying technical information to a range of audiences.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Hydrogeology, Hydrology or Water Resources Engineering); a higher degree is desirable.

Additional Information

Interview will take place via MS Teams in the week beginning 12 January 2026. Applications are blind‑assessed. If consented, candidates may be placed on a reserve list for six months.
