Project Accountant

At Rutherford Briant, we’re supporting a well-established organisation on the outskirts of Colchester, recognised for its collaborative culture and continuous investment in financial excellence. They are seeking a Project Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support key business projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong control across all activities.

• Partner with project managers to track budgets, forecasts, and actual spend
• Provide insightful financial analysis and commentary on project performance
• Support month-end reporting, accruals, and reconciliations for project costs
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
• Contribute to business cases, investment appraisals, and post-project reviews
• Drive process improvements and support wider finance transformation initiatives

• Proven experience in management or project accounting
• Strong analytical and Excel skills, with the ability to interpret financial data
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with non-finance stakeholders
• A proactive and organised approach, with strong attention to detail
• Part or fully qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience
