MCS Group is recruiting for an Engineer (Northern Region) on behalf of Waterways Ireland
, a leading North-South implementation body responsible for the management, maintenance, and development of inland navigable waterways.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled regional operations team, based in Coleraine
, helping to shape the future of the Lower Bann through the delivery of essential infrastructure, maintenance, and improvement projects.

As part of a dynamic operational management team, the Engineer will:

• Oversee maintenance, construction, and development projects across the Lower Bann, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.

• Supervise operational staff, contractors, and consultants, carrying out risk assessments and safety inspections in line with Waterways Ireland's management systems.

• Prepare and coordinate project designs, planning submissions, and tender documentation.

• Liaise with user groups, volunteers, and event organisers to encourage community engagement and recreational use of the waterways.

• Represent Waterways Ireland in partnership with local authorities and third parties to promote sustainable development.

• Contribute to health, safety, and environmental compliance across all projects and operations.

• Participate in the Emergency Response Team (with additional remuneration of £2,997 per annum).

• Degree (2.2 or above) in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• One year's operational experience in an engineering or infrastructure environment.

• Full driving licence and access to transport to travel across regional sites.

• Knowledge of civil/structural engineering principles
