Job Description:

As an Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

* Play a key role in the design and development of products from concept through to production.

* This position involves creating accurate 3D and 2D designs, performing detailed analysis using hand calculations and FEA software, and ensuring the highest quality standards across all design activities.

* The Mechanical Design Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product designs, manufacturing processes, and performance outcomes.

* You’ll also be responsible for writing technical reports, developing test fixtures, and validating prototype designs through testing.

* This role involves close communication with project managers, customers, and suppliers, ensuring all engineering work aligns with timelines and specifications.

* As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of your projects, sometimes stepping into a lead engineer position, overseeing design reviews, resource allocation, and project updates.

* The ideal Mechanical Design Engineer will be proficient in Solid Works, experienced with FEA tools such as Hexagon Marc/Mentat, and confident working on glass, glazing, or metallic structures.

* Experience in adhesive bonding processes or a willingness to work towards a European Adhesives Specialist qualification is an advantage.

Skills & Experience:

* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (essential).

* Proven engineering aptitude with strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving ability.

* Proficient in Solid Works or similar and familiar with FEA tools.

* Experience in design and development of glass, glazing or metallic framing products (advantageous).

* Understanding of materials properties and glass behaviour (highly desirable).
