Job Description & How to Apply Below

Coos Bay, United States | Posted on 11/05/2026

systech was founded in 2017 on a straightforward idea: businesses in this region deserved the same caliber of IT support that companies in Portland and Seattle take for granted, without having to import it.

Today our team runs managed IT, cybersecurity, business voice, structured cabling, camera security and software development out of our Roseburg headquarters and our Coos Bay office. Our co-founders lead that work directly, and they are on the escalation path when a call needs them.

We are big enough to cover every layer of our client's technology and small enough that they know the name of the person who picks up the phone or answers the email.

Job Description About the Role

You don't need to know everything. You do need to want to learn.

We're looking for someone with a technical foundation, good troubleshooting instincts, and the ability to work with actual human beings.

You don't need to walk through the door knowing every technology we support. You do need to be curious, willing to dig into problems, comfortable asking for help, and able to learn from the people around you.

If you want to build a serious career in IT, this is a place where you can do it. You'll work with a wide range of technology, learn from experienced technical professionals, and have opportunities to take on more as your skills grow.

What You'll Do

As a Level 1 Help Desk Technician, you'll be one of the people our clients turn to when technology isn't doing what it's supposed to do.

You will provide remote and occasional on-site support across a variety of business environments, troubleshooting Windows, Microsoft 365, applications, accounts, printers, connectivity, devices, and other common technical issues. You'll also gain experience with networking, identity and access, backups, endpoint security, and the tools we use to monitor and manage client systems.

Sometimes the problem will be straightforward. Sometimes it won't be. Your job is to gather information, troubleshoot logically, resolve what falls within your level, document what you did, and recognize when it's time to involve a Level 2 Help Desk Technician or Systems Engineer.

Good escalation is part of good technical support. We don't expect you to know everything. We expect you to learn from the people around you so that the problems you need help with today become problems you can solve independently tomorrow.

What You Bring

The Person We're Looking For

Being good with computers isn't enough.

Our clients depend on us to keep their businesses working. You need to be comfortable talking with people who may know considerably less about technology than you do. That means listening, asking good questions, explaining things without unnecessary jargon, and treating the client's problem as important.

We're also looking for someone who is curious and coachable. Technology changes, and there's always more to learn. You should be comfortable receiving feedback from managers and experienced technical staff and putting that feedback into practice.

Reliability matters. Our Help Desk is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and clients can start calling the minute we open. Your teammates need to know you'll be here and ready to work when your shift begins. Being on time, maintaining dependable attendance, and communicating appropriately when something unexpected happens are basic expectations of the position.

Requirements

What You Should Already Know

You should have a reasonable foundation in Windows computers, common business applications, and basic networking concepts such as IP addresses, DNS, DHCP, wired and wireless connectivity, user accounts, and permissions.

Previous professional IT experience is helpful, but it isn't the only way to demonstrate technical ability. Education, certifications, home labs, personal projects, self-directed training, customer-support experience, and other hands-on technology experience can all be relevant.

You do not need previous experience with every platform we use. Strong fundamentals, troubleshooting ability, communication skills, and the capacity to learn matter more than checking every technology box on a resume.

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of Windows environments, networking fundamentals, and common desktop applications
  • Strong communication skills and a client-first attitude
  • Ability to follow documented procedures consistently
  • Willingness to learn and take directions
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting…
