Hygiene Manager

What are we looking for?

We are currently seeking an experienced Hygiene Manager passionate about food safety who can lead, shape and drive improvements within our fast‑paced manufacturing plant.

This opportunity would suit a motivated people manager who thrives in a hands‑on environment and wants the autonomy to drive standards, lead a sizeable team, and contribute to ongoing operational improvements.

Reporting to the Head of Technical you will be responsible and accountable for the hygiene systems, compliance processes, staff development and continuous improvements in a culture where quality, health and safety are paramount.

• To ensure all aspects of the hygiene service are carried out and maintained to the required standard.
• To manage the hygiene budget and ensure all expenditure is authorised and recorded.
• To manage the ordering and stock control of hygiene consumables and chemicals.
• To maintain detailed cleaning instructions and schedules for every hygiene activity that meet the requirements of the BRC food safety standard.
• Responsible for the cleaning of air handling, evaporators, and filters.
• To oversee the day to day running of the staff facilities, maintenance of stocks / staff washroom facilities and all associated equipment.
• To conduct compliance audits/inspections of internal hygiene standards and documentation.
• To manage the provision of hygiene chemicals and dosing equipment on site – to include regular reviews with chemical supplier, periodic chemical dosing checks, maintenance of equipment and to oversee the safe storage, decant, transport, and use of chemicals on site.
• Manage and maintain the CIC and master sanitation schedules.
• To work with suppliers to obtain the most suitable and cost‑effective equipment and consumables and to effectively manage supplier non‑conformance in a timely manner.
• Drive the micro reduction and control programme in the factory.
• To support the Technical & QA team in obtaining water samples for testing and participating in microbiological investigations or projects to drive improvements in the site hygiene standards.
• To provide training and awareness for all hygiene and waste handling staff in all procedures relevant to their role.

• Experienced in working within food manufacturing, preferably a Bakery environment.
• HACCP + Food safety Level 4 trained.
• Proven Management Experience, to manage a team of 14 Operatives across 2 shifts.
• Computer Literate.

• up to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
• ER pension contribution up to 7%.
