Salary: £19 per hour (Fixed-Term Contract with benefits) OR £25 per hour (Ltd Company Contractor)

Use your HGV skills to build vehicles that protect lives.

If you have experience servicing, repairing, or maintaining HGVs, commercial vehicles, buses, coaches, agricultural machinery, construction plant or military vehicles, your skills are highly transferable into the defence sector.

NP Aerospace is looking for 2 talented HGV Mechanics to join our production teams, working on specialist military vehicle platforms used across global defence programmes.

These roles are hands‑on, team‑based, and offer the chance to apply your mechanical expertise to work with real purpose building systems that protect soldiers in the field.

Contract Options

We’re offering two engagement routes, depending on how you want to work:

£19 per hour on a Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) with NP Aerospace – including full employee benefits (see below)

£25 per hour if you join as a Ltd Company Contractor (outside IR35) (paid monthly)

What you’ll be doing :

• Building and fitting mechanical and electrical sub‑assemblies onto armoured vehicle platforms
• Working from engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions
• Carrying out precise mechanical fitting to high-quality standards
• Using workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively
• Identifying and reporting build issues to production and engineering teams
• Contributing to continuous improvement on the production line
• Working with pride, consistency, and a safety‑first mindset

If you've ever stripped, rebuilt, serviced, installed, or fault‑found on heavy vehicle systems, you’ll feel right at home.

What you’ll bring:

We’re open to candidates who have built their skills in different heavy vehicle environments. You’re likely to succeed if you have:

• Experience working on HGVs, PSV, defence vehicles, plant, agricultural machinery, or similar heavy mechanical systems
• Ability to interpret workshop manuals, drawings, and engineering instructions
• A mechanical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ, Apprenticeship) – or equivalent industry experience
• Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work
• Ability to work well as part of a busy production team
