Property Department OverviewOur Property department is a vital part of the Society’s core operations and is responsible for overall Property strategy, accommodation, physical security, health and safety, and facilities management across the business. They also manage the property real estate portfolio through acquisition and disposals, lifecycle asset management, building refurbishments, repairs and maintenance.
The team is now looking for a Senior Specialist Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to support BAU activities and our exciting Group transformation and ESG roadmap.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe person in role will be responsible for identifying, planning, costing and third‑party managing the Society’s mechanical and electrical services and related project works, ensuring all repairs, maintenance and projects are carried out compliantly with legislative and regulatory requirements.
They will deliver to specification, on time and within budget, respond to emergency or changing needs, and act as a subject matter expert providing advice and support in managing suppliers to SLA’s.

This role can be based from our Head Office campus in Coventry or our Manchester office, and requires the ability to travel and visit properties nationwide. A team‑led hybrid working arrangement is in place.
Essential Criteria- MRICS Chartered Building Surveying Degree and a Member of the Association of Project Safety
- Experience in commercial environments with knowledge of Landlord & Tenant law, statutory compliance and planned preventative maintenance
- Knowledge of building construction (methods and materials), defect diagnosis and emerging technologies
- Experience of planning process, building regulation legislation and compliance matters
- Good knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
- Good working knowledge of health & safety, fire, asbestos & other contributing factors
- Understanding of basic Mechanical and Electrical Services
- Ability to manage and influence a range of internal and external stakeholders at different levels of seniority
- Ability to work with third‑party professionals and suppliers
- Previous experience of commercial surveying practice / consultancy
- Experience in the financial services sector
