About

The Role

As part of the WMG SME Group, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to assist manufacturing SMEs in becoming more productive and competitive. You will play a key role in delivering our SME programmes, accelerating economic growth through research‑led innovation and establishing sustainable, collaborative relationships with SMEs and partner organisations.

We are looking for an experienced hands‑on Product/Industrial Designer to work with local manufacturers to help create new product, improve their existing designs and speed up their New Product Development cycle. You should be degree‑level qualified in a relevant subject and have applied industrial experience. Good organisational and interpersonal skills are also required.

About You
  • Computer‑aided design (CAD)
  • Design for Manufacture including manufacturing of polymer products.
  • Design for Assembly.
  • Mechanical design/engineering.
  • Experience of prototyping specifically Additive Manufacture.
You Should Be Able To
  • Communicate your expertise, knowledge and experience – from boardroom to technician
  • Apply your knowledge to the development of new product, physical prototypes and manufacturing processes
  • Make use of relevant technologies and computer software to support innovative design solutions
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects with short timescales (typically 10‑15 days)
