Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you enthusiastic about supporting others? Do you strive to promote independence and engagement? If you are passionate about patient care and recovery, this may be the role for you.

This post is for a Band 3 Therapy Technician at UHCW NHS Trust. The role is rotational within the inpatient therapy teams at the Coventry site, including Stroke, Care of the Elderly, Neurosciences and Surgery teams. Rotations will be for 1 year in each clinical area.

In this role you will work collaboratively with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and fellow therapy support workers across inpatient settings, supporting patients through the Acute Trust, focusing on optimising recovery through rehabilitation, preventing de‑conditioning and supporting timely discharges.

Responsibilities
  • To treat patients, following protocols that have been delegated to them e.g. walking aid assessments, progression of treatments, participation in planned group work, activities of daily living, personal care and individual activities as part of ongoing treatment. Only undertake tasks that you have been trained to carry out.
  • To independently develop and provide exercise programmes for individual patients, with the guidance of a registered therapist where appropriate.
  • To use knowledge and understanding of common physical, mental and behavioural health conditions to recognise deterioration in patients and respond by promptly escalating concerns to a registered practitioner.
  • Equipment cleaning, stock management and maintenance.
  • To develop, manage and maintain positive, appropriate relationships with patients, families and carers, providing person‑centred care.
  • To understand the different influences that impact health outcomes for patients and their families, including health inequalities.
  • To understand the aims and principles of health promotion, protection and improvement and to seek support from a registered practitioner when a patient signals a desire to change their health behaviour.
  • To understand and adhere to codes of practice, clinical procedures and professional standards.
  • To understand and demonstrate principles of team and partnership working and to define your own duties and role.
  • To understand role boundaries and the importance of supervision, carrying out appropriate delegated tasks and ensuring timely completion.
  • To provide feedback on patient progress and condition, recognise the impact of support and interventions, and suggest ideas for improvement when developing, reviewing and evaluating care plans based on objective evidence and experience.
  • To ensure safe and effective use of equipment by patients, carers and family members, including fitting demonstration, and teaching safe and appropriate use. Equipment must be safe, infection‑control compliant and ordered in a timely manner to support discharges.
Requirements
  • Provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either your current UK occupational health provider or your UK GP.
  • Attend a face‑to‑face interview on 27 January 2026; please indicate in your supporting statement that you can attend a face‑to‑face interview to aid short‑listing.
  • Sponsorship is NOT eligible for this post.
  • Applicants will receive a conditional offer of employment and must successfully complete all pre‑employment checks, including DBS, to progress to a final unconditional offer.
  • All correspondence will be sent by email; please check your account regularly, including your Junk/SPAM folders.
