LET’S TELL YOU MOREOur Cyber Security Summer Placement offers a unique opportunity to explore how a regulated FTSE 100 business protects its systems, data, and infrastructure from evolving digital threats. You’ll gain insight into how Severn Trent manages cyber risk, ensures compliance, and builds resilience across its technology landscape.
THINGS YOU MIGHT LEARN- Support the monitoring and analysis of cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, standards, and controls.
- Contribute to risk assessments and help ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
- Gain exposure to security architecture and how we design secure systems and networks.
- Participate in incident response activities and learn how we investigate and mitigate cyber events.
- Help raise awareness of cyber security best practices across the business.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to understand how cyber security supports digital transformation and operational resilience.
During the 8‑week or 12‑week placement you will be based at Severn Trent Centre in Coventry, working day‑to‑day with industry professionals, taking lead on projects and real‑life work.

Location: Severn Trent Centre, Coventry, CV1 2LZ
Programme duration: 8 or 12 weeks
Starting salary: £23,492
- Preferred individuals with an analytical mindset and a passion for Cybersecurity, Digital Resilience, Strategic Transformation, and Regulatory Compliance.
- Studying degrees such as Cyber Security, Information Security, Digital Forensics, Software Engineering (with Security Focus), IT management or other related degrees.
- Currently studying at a UK university and eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
- A ‘can‑do’ attitude – eager to get involved, take ownership, and deliver high‑quality work.
- Adaptability and resilience – comfortable with variety and thriving in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong prioritisation and problem‑solving skills – ready to tackle challenges head‑on.
- Excellent communication and collaboration – confident working across multiple teams.
- Curiosity and a growth mindset – keen to learn and continuously improve.
