The Graduate Leadership ProgrammeOur Graduate Leadership Programme offers an ideal blend of personal and professional development. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across frontline operations and core business functions through three unique nine‑month placements. During this time, you’ll learn the fundamentals of our business, how we deliver services across water and waste, and take ownership of key business challenges and projects.
Your placements provide exposure to Severn Trent’s four core business areas:
Customer
, People
, Project
, and Commercial
. In line with our values, you’ll explore new areas, challenge existing ways of working, and turn innovative ideas into reality.
You will be primarily based at Severn Trent Headquarters in Coventry, with flexibility to travel across our patch. The programme is designed to give you a broad range of experience across the business, allowing you to take on roles in asset strategy, innovation, people strategy, strategic business planning, or environmental sustainability.
What You Will Learn- People
:
Engage with and influence stakeholders from front‑line teams to senior leaders; present with impact to varied audiences. - Customer
:
Measure customer experience, solve day‑to‑day customer problems, and contribute to business planning focused on end customers. - Project
:
Understand the project lifecycle, measure impact and benefits, and use core project management tools while considering time, cost, quality, and benefits. - Commercial
:
Manage contractors and contracts, work with suppliers and partners, and understand budget management and cost considerations in projects and the wider business.

Your line manager, mentor, and graduate buddy will support you every step of the way. The New Talent Team will guide you through the programme.
Programme Details- Location: Severn Trent Centre, Coventry, CV1 2LZ
- Duration: 27 months
- Starting Salary: £31,500
- Entry Criteria: Any degree background
- Driving Requirements: Travel required; driving licence and access to vehicle preferable, though the headquarters are accessible by public transport
