Summer Placement Project Manager at Severn Trent

About the Placement

The Project Management Summer Placement gives you hands‑on experience in delivering large‑scale projects across a regulated FTSE 100 business. You'll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of project and programme management, helping to drive real change and deliver outcomes that matter to our customers and communities.

  • Start dates: 1st June (12‑week) or 29th June (8‑week)

    Severn Trent, Sherbourne House, St Martin's Road, Coventry, CV3 6SD
    (alternative: Derby)
  • Salary: £23,492 pro rata

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead meetings, capture actions, and engage project teams and contractors to deliver outcomes aligned with project plans.
  • Understand the end‑to‑end lifecycle of project and programme delivery, from planning and execution to closure.
  • Identify and propose solutions to project challenges, escalating to management when needed.
  • Progress and close project actions within required time frames to keep delivery on track.
  • Build confidence in managing project status, risks, and reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Interpret technical and non‑technical issues, and create clear action plans to overcome barriers.
  • Develop a resilient and solution‑focused mindset, using your network and stakeholders to overcome challenges.
  • Build personal robustness and maturity when navigating unfamiliar or complex situations.
  • Gain exposure to strategic delivery frameworks and contribute to initiatives with visibility at Director and CFO level.

  • Depending on your year of study, the programme could lead to a fast‑track opportunity into another internship programme or our graduate scheme.
Qualifications & Entry Criteria
  • Preferred individuals with an organised and solution‑focused mindset, and a passion for strategic delivery and programme coordination.
  • Studying degrees such as Project Management or other business‑related degrees.
  • Currently studying at a UK university and eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
  • Full UK Driver's Licence preferred, although not essential.
