Location:
Coventry
Salary: £35,000
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm (Day Shift)
We are seeking an innovative and detail-driven Packaging Technologist to join our team in Coventry. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about packaging development, quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging meets performance, regulatory, and customer requirements while supporting new product development projects.
Key Responsibilities- Manage relationships with design houses to develop good practice, improve printing processes and reprographics quality, brief artworks, create and maintain cutter guides, coordinate packaging redesigns for current SKUs, and manage new film changeovers.
- Support the NPD process to bring new products to market, including trials, transit support, and managing timelines for packaging printing (FTP) and site introduction.
- Support day-to-day packaging issues on site, working closely with QA and Operations.
- Develop an understanding of packaging products to improve operational line efficiency and product performance.
- Ensure all existing packaging is fit for purpose, compliant with technical and legal requirements, and maintain specifications electronically for access.
- Deliver packaging cost-saving and rationalisation projects.
- Build and maintain supplier relationships to increase packaging knowledge, track industry trends, competitor activity, and drive innovation.
- Degree qualified (ideally in Packaging, Food Technology, or a related field)
- Packaging qualification is a strong advantage
- Previous experience as a Packaging Technologist or similar technical packaging role
- Experience in food manufacturing environments highly desirable
- Strong understanding of packaging materials (plastics, paper, board, films, etc.)
- Knowledge of packaging regulations, performance testing, and NPD processes
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong technical awareness
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and proactive approach to continuous improvement
- £35,000 salary
