Working Hours:

3 Days per Week. Flexible Hours (days and time will be discussed during the interview).

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Formulation Chemist with proven formulation chemistry experience, strong understanding of HSE and COSHH, and an interest in supporting production and development activities within a growing organisation. As a Formulation Chemist you will work closely with the Chemist Lead and oversee daily production activities, ensuring that quality standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements are consistently met.

Working as a Formulation Chemist you will contribute to product improvements, optimise formulations, and support innovation while guiding a small manufacturing team within a hands‑on environment.

• Optimise Product Formulations:
  Develop and refine formulations for home and garden care products.
• Improve Existing Formulations:
  Enhance product stability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Maintain Technical Documentation:
  Manage formulation files, MSDS documents, and product specifications.
• Oversee Quality Control:
  Monitor batch quality and maintain accurate traceability records.
• Ensure Safe Chemical Handling:
  Oversee storage and usage of chemicals in line with HSE and COSHH guidance.
• Support Manufacturing Team:
  Assist in ensuring smooth daily production operations and addressing issues proactively.
• Troubleshoot Production Issues:
  Resolve challenges around blending, bottling, and raw materials, implementing continuous improvements.
• Source Raw Materials:
  Assist in identifying quality raw materials and managing supplier relationships.
• Contribute to Product Development:
  Support the roadmap for future innovation and scalable growth.

• Degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Proven experience of formulation chemistry, ideally within homecare or consumer products.
• Experience with HSE, COSHH, and quality standards in a production environment.
• Highly organised with excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ambitious, collaborative, and motivated to grow with a scaling organisation.
• Previous experience in developing home and garden products is highly desirable.
