Responsibilities
As an outreach worker, you will advocate for victims with agencies that can help in addressing domestic violence and abuse. This includes working with the Police and MARAC, accepting referrals made by them, as well as through the helpline or directly into the IDVA service.
In this critical role you will develop and deliver confidential, high‑quality outreach support services to victims and survivors experiencing domestic violence and abuse at the highest risk levels within the community.
You will recognize the individual needs of women and children, providing short‑ to medium‑term services to meet those needs. You will also work with women to identify their support needs and incorporate these into each woman’s Individual Support Plan, which you will review, update regularly, and maintain confidential files using a computerized case management system.
You will translate and converse with users in their indigenous language and coach them to raise awareness of Life in the U.K. (systems, cultures, and laws). You will provide practical and language assistance to survivors and victims regarding their cases within the criminal justice system.
The end goal is to support users to move out of crisis and high‑risk situations toward self‑development and safe independence.
QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need prior experience working with BAME communities experiencing domestic violence, specifically within Black, Asian, and Minority communities.
Experience working in a social care or welfare setting and familiarity with safeguarding guidelines to protect and promote the well‑being of children and vulnerable adults is also required.
