Applebough Education is working with several Secondary Schools in the Coventry area who are seeking energetic, reliable, and confident Sports Coaches to support PE departments and cover lessons across a range of year groups.

This is an excellent opportunity for sports professionals, coaching specialists, or graduates looking to gain school-based experience—perfect for those considering a future in teaching or education.

The Role

As a Sports Coach working in Secondary Schools, you will:

* Deliver engaging sports and physical activity sessions

* Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the PE teacher

* Support students in developing their fitness, teamwork, and confidence

* Maintain good behaviour management and ensure a safe, positive learning environment

* Adapt sessions for mixed abilities and promote full participation

* Work across various schools depending on demand, offering great flexibility

We’re Looking For

* Experienced Sports Coaches, PE Assistants, or individuals with coaching qualifications

* Confident leaders who can engage and motivate students

* Strong behaviour management and communication skills

* A positive, energetic, and professional approach

* Flexibility to work in different school environments

* Experience working with young people (school, club, or community settings)

Qualifications that are ideal (but not essential):

* Level 2 or above Coaching Qualification

* Sports Degree or relevant subject area

* First Aid or safeguarding training

* Experience delivering sessions to secondary-aged pupils
