HGV Technician

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands‑on HGV Technician to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to take ownership of workshop operations, supporting the repair, maintenance, and compliance of a small fleet of tipper and hydraulic crane lorries. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical expertise, confidence in managing workshop activities, and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex vehicle issues in a fast‑paced environment.

    Up to £45,000 p/a

  • Schedule:

    Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm (1‑hour lunch);
    Saturdays and overtime as required; day shift only
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and carry out repair and maintenance on a fleet of tipper and hydraulic crane lorries
  • Manage compliance, including PMI inspections, MOTs, tacho checks, defect reporting, and associated paperwork
  • Respond to call‑outs and breakdowns, ensuring timely and effective resolutions
  • Maintain workshop standards, safety, and day‑to‑day operational control
  • Support ongoing improvement of workshop processes and vehicle uptime
Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical faults
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Physically able to carry out demanding workshop tasks
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities
  • Confident managing workshop operations; previous workshop management experience is essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Class 1 or 2 licence preferred but not mandatory
