Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist or Psychotherapist

Islet Systems is seeking a psychologist or psychological therapist with a passion for trauma‑informed approaches to provide services in Mid Devon CRHTT and Core Team. The role spans Adult Core Mental Health and crisis services, offering a unique opportunity for specialist skill development.

Job Summary

Deliver specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment for people with complex trauma. Supervise and lead a team of psychologists, trainees and volunteers, working autonomously within professional guidelines to ensure high‑quality service delivery and governance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide short‑term interventions (TF‑CBT, EMDR, NET) and occasional longer‑term therapy.
  • Conduct assessment, formulation and treatment planning for individuals, carers, families and groups.
  • Lead and supervise less experienced staff and trainees.
  • Maintain professional and clinical governance, record keeping and compliance with Trust policies.
  • Contribute to service development, audit, research and quality improvement projects.
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, families and senior managers.
Qualifications – Essential
  • Registered psychologist or psychotherapist with an appropriate accrediting body.
  • Further training in trauma‑based therapies (TF‑CBT, EMDR or NET) and short‑term interventions.
  • Competency in IT and evidence‑based practice.
Qualifications – Desirable
  • Experience with serious mental health problems and working with young people.
  • Training and experience in supervision and project management.
Experience & Skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, ability to work under pressure.
  • Advanced psychological assessment and formulation skills, including risk assessment.
  • Organisational, planning and time‑management abilities.
  • Commitment to diversity, equality and the recovery approach.
Employment Details

Band 8a – £55,690 to £62,682 per year pro rata (22.5 hours per week). Permanent, part‑time, flexible working.
