Adecco working in partnership with Bentley Motors are searching for a dynamic Field Quality Engineer - Chassis Powertrain to join their team. Crewe - Pyms Lane, CW1 3PL

Working pattern:
Onsite working, 35 hours per week

Position Overview:

As a Field Quality Engineer, you will be at the forefront of investigating intricate chassis & powertrain issues across the vehicle system. Using the structured 8D framework, you will lead cross-functional teams, define problems, implement containment strategies, and drive root-cause identification. Your expertise will be vital in confirming fault mechanisms and developing corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities:

Testing, Diagnostics & Root-Cause Validation:

* Lead diagnostic and validation testing across chassis and powertrain systems, including suspension, steering, braking, transmission, driveline, and engine control systems.

* Develop and execute targeted test plans to replicate, isolate, and validate failure mechanisms.

* Apply advanced diagnostic techniques using oscilloscopes, multimeters, data loggers, and vehicle network tools.

* Interpret data from CAN, LIN, and Flex Ray networks to identify electrical or control-related failures impacting mechanical systems.

Problem-Solving:

* Team Formation:
Identify and coordinate a talented team for effective problem-solving.

Craft clear, data-driven problem statements and analyse relevant data.

* Interim Containment:
Lead temporary containment actions to ensure customer and operational safety.

* Root Cause Analysis:
Conduct in-depth investigations to validate root causes through testing and structured analysis.
Cross-Functional & Supplier Engagement:

* Collaborate closely with design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure alignment on problems and solutions.

* Engage with suppliers to set clear technical expectations and conduct joint testing.

* Contribute to design reviews and updates based on findings.
Continuous Improvement:

* Identify recurring issues and contribute to lessons-learned processes.

* Support the development of internal problem-solving standards and coaching initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering.

* Strong understanding of chassis and powertrain systems (e.g., suspension control, engine management, torque delivery, transmission control, and braking systems).

* Proven track record applying the 8D methodology for field or production issues.

* Skilled with automotive diagnostic and test equipment (oscilloscope, CAN tools, vibration analysis, or data logging).

* Familiarity with vehicle communication networks (CAN, LIN, Flex Ray, Ethernet).

* Excellent technical reporting and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with in an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier.

* Knowledge of tools like CANoe/CANalyser, MATLAB/Simulink, or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL).

* Understanding of automotive quality and safety standards (IATF 16949, ISO 26262).

* Six Sigma or equivalent problem-solving certification.
