Sewing Machinist

Overview

A small Scottish brand, designing and manufacturing Scottish luxury boxer shorts, established for over ten years, is looking to recruit a part-time Sewing Machinist to work from their own workshop based in Cumbernauld. Working hours can be flexible with a minimum of 16 hours up to a maximum of 21 hours. Days and hours of work can be negotiable. The hourly rate for the role is £12.60.

• Producing a garment from start to finish using various industrial sewing machines such as Over locker, Coverstitch, Lockstitch and PLK.
• Ability to work with various materials including jersey fabric.
• Small pattern cutting duties on occasion.
• Set-up and troubleshoot sewing machine operation.
• Inspect the finished garment to ensure quality standards are met.
• Assisting in the development of new designs.

• Experience of using a sewing machinist (can be domestic experience).
• Good understanding of machine set-up.
• Attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to work efficiently.
• Knowledge/experience of garment production.
• Willing to learn on the job and through offsite training if required.

• Experience as an industrial sewing machinist.
• Experience of working in the underwear/soft garment field.
