Design Manager

I am recruiting for a Civils Design Manager to join a major nuclear infrastructure programme in Cumbria. This is a key permanent role with a tier one contractor, taking the lead on civil engineering design delivery across a complex, highly regulated site.
You will be responsible for driving coordinated, buildable design solutions that support safe, efficient construction on a live nuclear project.

The role

* Lead the civil engineering design scope across allocated work packages

* Coordinate multi discipline design teams and external designers to ensure fully integrated solutions

* Manage the flow of design information to support programme and construction sequencing

* Review and approve drawings, calculations and technical submissions in line with project standards

* Chair design review and coordination meetings with internal teams and the client

* Provide design input into constructability reviews, methods and temporary works

* Ensure designs comply with nuclear safety, site licence and CDM requirements

* Work closely with planning, construction and commercial teams to manage change and risk

* Support technical queries during construction and resolve design issues promptly

About you

* A strong civil engineering background with experience on major infrastructure projects

* Proven experience in a Design Manager or Senior Designer role, ideally with tier one contractor or large consultancy experience

* Experience of complex reinforced concrete structures, heavy civils and temporary works

* Previous nuclear or high hazard experience is advantageous, but strong regulated infrastructure experience will also be considered

* Excellent coordination, communication and client facing skills

* Ability to lead multi discipline teams and challenge design to achieve the best outcome

* Degree qualified in civil or structural engineering or equivalent

* You must have the ability to obtain SC clearance
You will need to be based in or able to relocate to Cumbria, with regular presence on site.

Package

* Salary £70,000 to £80,000 depending on experience

* Car allowance £6,325
