18 month FTC Technical Author Engineer Job - Cwmbran, Wales

A leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality fire systems and safety devices is seeking a Technical Author Engineer to join its team based in Cwmbran, Wales. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic engineering environment focused on developing energy-efficient and sustainable solutions.

The Technical Author Engineer in Cwmbran, Wales will play a key role in creating accurate, clear, and engaging technical documentation to support both customers and internal teams. Working within a collaborative and forward-thinking engineering department, this position is ideal for someone who enjoys transforming complex technical information into accessible and user-friendly materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain user manuals, product guides, and technical specifications for fire and safety products.
  • Research and evaluate technical data to develop well-structured documents across multiple formats.
  • Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to ensure documentation accuracy and consistency.
  • Conduct audience analysis to determine the best communication approach and medium.
  • Review and edit documents prepared by others, maintaining a consistent tone and format.
  • Support continuous improvement by maintaining documentation standards and managing repositories.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Communications, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a technical writer or Technical Author Engineer within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of life safety systems, with knowledge of UL864+217 and EN-54 standards.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with document control systems and the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
