Operations Quality Engineer (H/F) - SAFRAN GROUP

Safran is an international high‑technology group operating in the aeronautics, space, and defence sectors. In the UK, Safran Seats specialises solely in the First Class and Business Class seating markets for wide body aircraft. This role is based in Cwmbran and Newport, Wales and Brackley, England.

Mission Description

The purpose of this role is to assure the quality of products throughout the product lifecycle. These individuals will support the product lifecycle quality assurance, through the complete manufacturing process, and take responsibility for ensuring that processes and procedures are in place and adhered to in relation to product quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Operational Manager and Operational team, as well as other quality teams to define quality objectives in line with company objectives.
  • Ensure that measuring of the quality of products and services is delivered, with respect to the specified objectives.
  • Implement and carry out appropriate action plans and measure their effectiveness.
  • Conduct audits and OJT in accordance with regulations, company procedures and customer requirements.
  • Support and maintain the implementation validation process.
  • Support in‑production quality aspects and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Analyse all data to develop quality improvement plans, ensuring their effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure that products and services delivered to the customers have gone through the appropriate manufacturing / repair / validation process.
  • Define, update and ensure compliance with key points for achieving quality.
  • Process customer dissatisfaction, non‑compliance (production) and/or deviations from maintenance data (MRO) in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that necessary quality‑related accreditations, special procedures and measurement devices / systems are in place and properly managed.
  • Manage the quality of outsourced production or MRO service providers (offloading or interoperation).
  • Act as a point of contact for internal customers, representatives of external customers and partners for all aspects of operations quality.
  • Stop any action that could have an unacceptable impact on the quality of a product and propose necessary conditions for a restart.
  • Undertake QRQC (8D) as required to support timely operational throughput.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to individuals employed in the operational areas for in‑production quality requirements.
Candidate Skills
  • HNC / HND or equivalent in an Engineering Discipline.
  • In‑depth understanding and/or experience in utilising QA Tools such as APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, Control Plans, FMEA, Poke Yoke and RCCA 8D Report writing.
  • Sound Engineering / Quality background with experience of Quality Engineering in the Aerospace / Defence industry.
  • Experience as a Quality Engineer within Internal Design Teams.
  • In‑depth understanding of regulatory, international and aerospace quality management standards.
  • Experience in managing HSE risks and flight safety risks.
  • Internal Auditor AS9100 trained.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to initiate and maintain relationships with challenging international suppliers and to manage frequent interactions with Senior Management and other internal customers.
  • Ability to challenge individuals at all levels to ensure compliance with business processes and standards.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Confident communicator with an ability to establish good working relationships across all departments and with Customer and Regulatory Authority at all levels.
