Job Description

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing service and site assistance on John Crane Turbo machinery Products supporting compressor manufactures and end user customers. As part of the KSA Engineering team the incumbent will support the company drive to expand our portfolio of Services & Products in the Turbo machinery market in accordance with the corporate objectives, strategy and plans.
The role will include travel across KSA sites, sometime to remote areas if required.

  • Onsite Dry Gas Seal removal, strip, inspection, rebuild and installation into Turbo compressors.
  • Ensure service visits are executed on time, to quality (HSE) standards and customer expectations
  • Create a comprehensive customer report outlining all site activities including, observations, recommendations, and actions.
  • Identify and assist customers with upgrades of all Turbo machinery products
  • Act as liaison with the Reliability Group for seal related issues whilst on site
  • Understand and report upon the commercial opportunities of each customer site visited through the use of site surveys, the commercial opportunity sheet and customer interaction
  • Liaise with the MEA Turbo machinery BDM after identifying new cross sell opportunities and promote John Crane Turbo machinery products and services to customers
  • Provide training to customers on gas seal and system related subjects
  • Troubleshooting on all Turbo machinery products.
  • Technical Performance:
    Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment. Troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve equipment failures or performance issues. Adherence to technical specifications and OEM standards. Documentation of service reports, and test results.
  • Safety compliance:
    Strict compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards. Conducting risk assessments and ensuring permit-to-work procedures are followed. Reporting and investigating near misses, incidents, or unsafe conditions. Ensuring personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    Timely execution of service tasks to minimize downtime. Resource management, including tools, spare parts, and manpower. Coordination with logistics for mobilization and demobilization.
  • Customer Satisfaction:
    Acting as the technical point of contact for clients on-site. Providing clear communication and updates to stakeholders. Ensuring service quality meets or exceeds client expectations. Handling client feedback and concerns professionally.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
    Submitting accurate and timely service reports. Participating in root cause analysis and suggesting improvements. Contributing to lessons learned and knowledge sharing. Supporting training and mentoring of junior engineers or technicians.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in a Mechanical Engineering related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive direct experience working with rotating experience in a similar role.
  • Direct experience/knowledge of Turbo machinery equipment and its associated components such as Coupling, Systems, Filtration and Gas Seals.
  • Field installation experience on Gas Seals.
  • Knowledge of JC Turbo machinery products and associated components.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Team player and willingness to travel at short notice.
  • Adaptable, flexible and appreciative of an array of cultures and customs.
  • The ability to work under pressure.
