Job Summary for Estimator

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Estimator to join our growing client. You will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of accurate and competitive tenders for projects involving land remediation, bulk earthworks, and minor civil engineering.

You will have competence to interpret complex tender documentation and contribute strategic insights and innovative approaches to bid processes.

You will work Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm. The location of this role is not fixed as our client has projects nationwide.

Key Responsibilities for Estimator

  • Review and assess incoming tender documentation, including specifications, drawings, surveys, and contract terms.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender submissions in collaboration with operational, technical, and commercial teams.
  • Engage with clients, consultants, supply chain partners, and internal teams to clarify project requirements and gather necessary information.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and propose innovative solutions to enhance competitiveness.
  • Undertake site visits and attend pre-tender meetings where required.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of market rates, subcontractor pricing, and industry trends.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, systems, and internal processes.

Key Skills and Competencies for Estimator

  • Proven experience in estimating roles within the remediation, earthworks, and/or minor civils sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, ground conditions, and construction methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and assess project risks and opportunities.
  • Relevant qualifications in construction, civil engineering, or quantity surveying (desirable).
  • Experience with NEC contracts and public sector tenders (desirable).
  • Experience with ASTA Programme managing software (desirable).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a collaborative team player.
