With two main specialist areas – Structures and Geotechnical, Expanded Ltd provides a total capability in the early construction phases of major projects, providing an end‑to‑end solution or a bespoke choice of services, backed by a central technical design and engineering resource to deliver programmes for numerous market‑leading developments. Expanded Structures is the UK leader in reinforced concrete basement, sub‑ and superstructure frame construction and is part of the Laing O'Rourke Group.

The workload is diverse and brings together key internal business of geotechnical / Explore Manufacturing (Precast) / Vetter (Stone) to offer clients complete solutions. Like the rest of the Laing O'Rourke Group, Expanded is committed to bringing the benefits of a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) approach. Explore Manufacturing includes Europe's largest off‑site pre‑cast concrete facility providing modular components with higher levels of repeatability, quality and cost surety.

With continuing demand from Laing O'Rourke and the external market the business is seeking to appoint a Managing Estimator who will have responsibility for leading major bids. Recognising the importance of close collaboration with the wider project bid teams this role is office‑based as in person touchpoints are critical during technically challenging bids. The role can be based locally to any of the LOR hubs or major projects including the Southeast, Midlands, Manchester or Glasgow, all of which offer great transport links and easy access to the motorway network.

The business is willing to consider candidates from anywhere within the UK on an understanding of there being a degree of travel.

• The estimating team operates a fairly flat structure, this is a senior position within the team leading across the bid process on major tenders, or 2‑3 smaller bids with the support of other estimators within the function.
• Securing a potentially profitable work stream for the business by ensuring that bids are prepared in a timely manner and meet LOR Group requirements.
