Long-Term Substitute Teacher – Juvenile Justice Center

Greene County Educational Service Center is seeking a qualified and motivated Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide instructional support to students attending our Juvenile Justice Centers in Xenia, Ohio.

This position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting their academic progress, encouraging engagement, and helping them stay on track toward meeting their educational goals.

Work Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m. — 2:45 p.m. The work schedule follows a 183 day typical school calendar.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Ohio Substitute Teaching License or a valid Ohio Teaching License.
• Preferred educational background, degree, or credential in mathematics.
• Preferred experience working with at-risk youth or students with diverse educational and behavioral needs.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and support their academic growth.
• Understanding or willingness to learn and use various technology platforms.

Position Responsibilities

• Monitor and support students as they complete coursework through an online curriculum.
• Track student progress to ensure they remain on pace with assigned coursework and academic expectations.
• Provide instruction, assistance, and additional academic support as needed.
• Help students stay engaged, focused, and accountable for their learning.
• Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor student attendance, participation, and academic progress.
• Communicate student progress and concerns with appropriate staff.
• Collaborate with facility personnel, GCESC staff, Outside School District and Court Supervisors to support student success.
