Supplier Development Engineer

Supplier Development Engineer required for a 12 months contract - based on site in Peterlee with regular visits to UK suppliers and occasional visits to European suppliers.

This role is for an experienced Supplier Development Engineer or Supplier Quality Engineer with 5-10 years of APQP and PPAP experience – Essential.

The pay rate is up to £36 per hour depending upon experience.

The primary purpose of the role is to confirm that the Supplier can manufacturing the parts to meet the company’s exact requirements, and confirm supplier has capacity to ship parts on time

Duties

Ensuring the quality of supplies by conducting tests and assessments on incoming supplies to identify any quality issues
Developing supplier inspection, testing, and evaluation mechanism
Generating reports on Supplier Quality, by monitoring their defect rates and areas that can lead to potential flaws
Guiding suppliers to reduce these defect rates
Researching the potential vendors, assessing their manufacturing environment, practices, and procedures
Conducting supplier quality control audits to ensure compliance with the company’s policies and standards
Supporting suppliers in improving their performance through process enhancements, implementing process controls, and developing quality assurance plans

Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

Oversees PPAP implementation across projects, ensuring adherence to global standards and driving performance improvements.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies

Collaborates cross-functionally to develop, communicate, and monitor compliance with manufacturing standards and policies.
Supplier Management

Builds strategic supplier partnerships, monitors performance, and resolves discrepancies to maintain quality, shipment, and compliance.
Supplier Evaluations and Certification

Designs and leads systematic evaluation protocols, setting organizational standards and metrics for supplier certification
