Accounting Clerk

Description

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to support daily financial operations for a non-profit organization in Delano, California. This position is ideal for someone who brings strong accounting fundamentals, accuracy in transactional work, and confidence handling both records and customer-facing payment activity. The role contributes to smooth financial processing by maintaining organized documentation, preparing routine accounting entries, and assisting with reporting and reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

- Support day-to-day accounting activities by processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and timeliness.

- Examine invoices, backup documentation, and payment details to prepare approved items for disbursement and proper record retention.

- Maintain supporting financial records, update subsidiary ledgers, and enter journal-related information needed for general ledger accuracy.

- Complete month-end balancing tasks by reconciling reports and verifying that supporting records align with the general ledger.

- Input, retrieve, and organize accounting data in designated systems while producing routine financial and operational reports in required formats.

- Assist with utility and customer account administration by setting up new accounts, assigning account details, recording payments, and addressing past-due balances.

- Perform cashiering duties by receiving payments, fees, deposits, and other incoming funds, while ensuring transactions are recorded correctly.

- Prepare daily receipt summaries, balance cash activity, create audit-support documentation, and coordinate bank deposit processing.

- Provide administrative and public-facing support by responding to procedural questions, preparing forms, and checking documents for completeness and policy compliance.

Requirements - At least 3 years of experience in an accounting clerk or related financial support role.

- Practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice processing, and high-volume data entry.

- Proficiency using Quick Books and other computer-based accounting or financial record systems.

- Ability to reconcile reports, track financial details, and maintain accurate accounting records with strong attention to detail.

- Comfortable handling cash receipts, payment processing, and routine reporting responsibilities in an office environment.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills to assist staff and members of the public with factual procedural information.

- Ability to manage multiple clerical and accounting tasks while meeting deadlines and following established procedures.
