Read This First
If you think manufacturing is about “supervising people” or “keeping production running,” do not apply .
This role is for someone who owns machines, people, processes, failures, and outcomes . You will build a manufacturing system from the ground up at a fast-scaling D2C brand. There will be pressure. There will be chaos. There will be no hand-holding.
If that excites you—read on.
About Clumsy Bumsy
Clumsy Bumsy is a fast-growing D2C startup building fresh, honest food for cats. Our product quality is defined on the shop floor. Manufacturing is not a support function here—it is the company . You will be part of the founding team , working directly with the founders to scale capacity, consistency, and efficiency without compromising quality.
The Mandate
You own everything inside the manufacturing unit .
Machines run.
Processes work.
SOPs exist and are followed.
Teams perform.
Output improves.
Failures get fixed—fast.
If something breaks, slows down, or produces inconsistency, it’s your problem to solve .
What You Will Own
End-to-end leadership of the manufacturing operation
Deep technical understanding of every machine—how it works, why it fails, how to fix or optimize it
Designing, documenting, and enforcing SOPs across all manufacturing processes
Hands-on understanding of food manufacturing processes and quality-critical control points
Building and executing preventive maintenance schedules (not reactive firefighting)
Designing electrical load planning and machine-wise power requirements
Ensuring machines, manpower, utilities, and workflow operate as one system
Identifying bottlenecks and driving measurable efficiency gains
Enforcing strict process discipline—no shortcuts, no “jugaad,” no exceptions
Hiring, training, and leading your own manufacturing team
Working directly with founders on scale-up, capacity planning, and future expansion
What We Expect From You
You understand machines beyond the manual
You can walk into a manufacturing unit and instantly see inefficiencies
You are comfortable on the shop floor, not just in meetings
You build systems first, then scale people
You fix problems instead of escalating them
You are data-driven, process-obsessed, and allergic to chaos
You move fast, learn fast, and demand high standards—from yourself first
Non-Negotiables
Strong technical understanding of manufacturing machinery
Solid knowledge of food manufacturing processes
Prior experience running or deeply owning a manufacturing operation
Proven ability to create SOPs and enforce compliance
Leadership ability to build and run teams under pressure
High ownership mindset—results matter more than effort
This Role Is Absolutely Not For You If
You want fixed hours and predictable days
You avoid accountability when things go wrong
You depend entirely on external technicians for machine issues
You struggle to enforce discipline on the shop floor
You’re looking for a “manager” title without operator responsibility
Why This Role Is Rare
Do this well, and you won’t just manage a factory—you will build the manufacturing engine of a category-defining brand . Your work will directly impact product quality, scalability, margins, and customer trust.
This is a career-defining role , not a stepping stone.
